Tiramisu

Tiramisu is a coffee flavored Italian Dessert with is very easy to make. Loosely translated it means ' pick me up ', This dish originated in the Vento region of Italy. Some sources suggest it goes back to the 1600's in Venice, Italy, but it is unknown to recipe books before 1960's. In 1993 it gained popularity in the U.S. because of a mention in the film "Sleepless in Seattle". This dish consists of three parts: Pound Cake or Lady Fingers, Sweet Cream Sauce and Coffee. I like using pound cake and you will find that recipe posted before this one. Cut pound cake in dessert sized pieces. You can use cookie cutters (my favorite is using a heart cutter) or cut into rectangles. Your pound cake should be about 1" thick then cut this in half. Soak pound cake in coffee and place on dish. Sweet Cream Sauce should be flavored with Marsala Wine but not necessary. You will find Sweet Cream Sauce recipe in a previous post. Spoon sauce over coffee infused pound cake and then sprinkle with Cocoa Powder. Repeat this a second time and you are done! Enjoy.
